Me, Bekah, and Dave went to a WRX meet/photo session.

I guess technically, Dave invited us to go with him since I don't have a Subaru.

There was a recently built bridge that wasn't in service yet.

Perfect for some cool photos.

Then found an old garage.

This guy had a 1991 impreza. At least he was nice and always parked it to the side for our photos! Dave made fun of him because his car was so old, then I told him my prelude is a 1991 :(

Poor Bekah, she was bored but she was a good sport about it. She was usually in the car, in the back seat, texting or something in most of the photos.

After we left the group, me and Dave decided to get some photos of just his car. Thats when I pulled out my Pentax 67ii and put in some B&W film.

We miss everyone in Idaho and I definitely miss the mountains, maybe not the October snows though.
Anyway, I ended up looking through some older photos and I noticed I had several ones of the exact same bridge.

This one was from the Holga

Zion, Grand Canyon, and Bryce Parks

Bek and I got the opportunity to go on a Backroads trip to Bryce, Zion, and Grand Canyon National Parks.

This is where we stayed the first night, at Bryce.

I have to say, the start of a bike race is pretty boring. They all start in a high gear so nobody just takes off, they just all look constipated and start really slow.

It was really hot out, he had to cool off

Came up on these two water falls

My dad and I decided to hike over to them. Which was a lot easier said than done, there were a lot of thorn bushes, streams and snow banks

But we made it

From this point, Bek and my Mom hiked back down the to the car. My dad and I put on boots so we could hike through the snow and keep going up to the wind cave.

Instead of taking the normal trail, we decided to climb up this hill to cut off a lot of time. I found a flashlight that looked like it had been there all winter, and it still worked.

After a short hike through the trees we crossed over an open field of snow and started climbing up the really steep hill to the cave.

At first we didn't think we could get any closer. You would definitely not want to go out on the steep snow bank there, if you slipped you would end up in the rushing water from the cave and go over the falls.

But, we figured out we could slip between the snow bank and the rock wall.

But we eventually made it

This was as close as we could get without climbing/safety gear

It looked like that giant chunk of snow would slip down the falls (shown earlier, top right of photo) any minute

Scrambling back down the hill, it was really tempting to slide down. But, that would have been bad if you couldnt have stopped (and really really cold)

As we hiked down, the clouds started moving in. And, unfortunately, I had water spots on my lens

High Water and Sawtooths

Summer time is here in IF, well sort of.

The snake was really "swollen", it has gone down since the photo, but there is still a ton of snow in the mountains to melt, as you will see later.

Literally the weekend we landscaped our house, the youth from our church decided to do a fundraiser...

Basically since we didn't pay $20 insurance, we had to pay a $30 fee to get it cleaned up.

But, we decided to clean it up our selves (except the huge seat, it didn't fit in our car) and decorate the youth leaders house (+$30 to come get the huge seat).

A tribute to the beginnings of motion photography

Never seen the sky so dark in Idaho, this would be like any other day in Missouri though.

Bek told me this flower would open soon, so I tried doing a time lapse of it, 600 exactly-the-same photos later, it was still closed.

Paintballing, with crappy 2x TC and 80-200mm lens. We play at an awesome spot on an island in the middle of the snake.

At the attempt to break the world record for icecream scoops in one hour, I think they doubled the record to 6000 scoops??

We decided to go camping over my long weekend with a couple of friends

Road construction on the way out to the sawtooths, sat there for like 45 minutes.

We were in the middle of nowhere and had a fully loaded car, it sucked. Luckily, Arco had one of the size tires we needed (used).

I think we fell asleep on this stretch...

Finally got there, visited custer ghost town, but first saw the cemetery.

I got as close as I could, at this point he took off.

A lot of the graves looked like this and said "Unknown", there were several deaths from avalanches.

Then you had graves like this, free mason and really fancy.

Everywhere we went it was a like a mazda commercial, a mazda3 and cx-7.

Stopped at an old dredging machine they used to collect dirt for gold. They said usually these were torn down but since this was put together with rivets, they just left it.

Decided not to go on the $5, self guided, tour.

Looked like something out of strange movie, this thing was massive.

At the ghost town, the ranger person there said she could show us a slideshow of the history. We were expecting a computer powerpoint presentation, but she started up the generator, lit up a literal slide projector, and stood at the back and read the presentation. It was a good show though.

Most people were from Idaho that had been there, of course.

Our awesome camping spot on Redfish Lake, Glacier view campground, Site 36. Highly recommended.

Frost on the table next morning. (The next morning after this, we had frost on our sleeping bags!)

We started to do a hike up to an alpine lake, bek and I thought we were smart because we had our hiking sandals on so we could do stream crossings really easy. Little did we know...

It was a pretty hike and not very difficult

Then we started seeing snow, it wasnt bad just a pile to hike over every now and then

Then dry ground started to become sparse and snow was the main hiking terrain.

Eventually it was nothing but snow, and fairly deep.

At this point it was wayyyyy too cold on our feet in sandals, we turned around here at about 4 miles in and 7500 ft elevation. It was nothing but snow, which turned to ice between our feet and sandals every time we took a step.

Danielle and Steven went on because they were smart and wore boots. Luckily we found an island of dry ground to sit down and warm our feet up, they were purple and very cold.

Danielle and Steven caught back up to us, they decided not to go the full way to the lake, but instead climbed around on the mountain and then turned around.

We spent a really long time looking for a hot spring that was not covered by the swollen river (i.e. no longer "hot") or full of old guys. We eventually gave up and decided to get icecream but while we were there we asked the local person there. She told us to go back 20 miles down the road and turn down a dirt road and go 7 miles. We thought it was a wild goose chase, but sure enough we eventually smelled the "lovely" smell of sulfur.

A quick hike found the following:

A surprising-elaborate home-made naturally-powered hot tub.

But, the hot tub had to wait, there was more exploring to do. We saw what looked like a giant mount of snow behind a few old buildings, so we decided to check it out.

After climbing the mound of snow, which turned out to be something best described as moon dust, we were greeted with a huge but destroyed mining complex.

Everyone was a little weary of actually getting in.

The water temp was nice.

But only decided to stick our feet in, some of us.

Hiking back to the car. It is possible to find this hot spring listed on the internet, but to keep it a secret local spot, not here!

The next morning we got up early so we could get back into town to pick Rupert up from doggie boarding.

OK, I haven't posted in a really long time but I just posted a lot of photos. The below photos are from the tetons on my pentax 67ii medium format camera on Adox CHS 50, developed and scanned by me. The photos afterwards are some old ones from Kodak Tri-X.
After the black and whites, some photos from our valentines day dance at church. And then photos from when Bek's family came to visit us and we went to the elk refuge in Jackson.

We had to sleep in SLC airport for a night, so I got to take a lot of photos. Here is bek on one of those moving walkways. Long exposure of course, cant remember how long though.

Going down an escalator, didn't work that well but it is a cool design.

Sleep time, we ended up moving to different sleeping locations several times.

Pentax 67ii

Bought a Pentax 67ii in fantastic condition. Came with original boxes for the body and AE viewfinder.
I also bought a 105mm f2.4 lens for my normal field of view to start out with. I plan on getting a 55mm f4 sometime soon for landscapes.

I have been getting frustrated with my 35mm cameras due to the misaligned mirror causing improper focus and I also wanted some higher resolution negatives. I plan on doing some landscape work in the future (hopefully for some profit) and wanted to be able to print larger than one would from 35mm.

I ran a quick roll of 125px through it one evening. Developed in HC110 dilution-H for 7 minutes.

No misaligned mirror in this bad boy.
